Finding Inspiration in Uninspiring Places

Even though this little blog has been around for over a year, I've only been "seriously" blogging since May when I changed the blog to Seasons with the Strattons.  One of the most important things I have learned in my short three months of blogging 4-5 times a week is the importance of staying inspired.  It is hard to come up with new blog topics for each week.

I love seeing the pictures of other bloggers home offices with all the organization and inspirational prints.  Although I hope to use our home office nook this offseason for blogging, during baseball season a pretty home office just isn't a reality.  If you saw my Instagram post last week, I was doing some blogging from a Comfort Inn in Visalia, California which I think always, always smells like cow manure... Seriously.  To spare you gory details, I disinfected our room multiple times.  Side Note: Minor League Baseball is not glamorous contrary to popular belief.  But that is a story for another day.

Let's just say that the Comfort Inn isn't just overflowing with awesome inspiration and neither is the freeway view from the window.  So where do I find inspriration for blog posts when I'm surrounded by uninspiring things?

Pinterest: I may or may not be a Pinterest addict, but sometimes all it takes for blog inspiration is looking at pretty pictures of other people's home offices or yummy recipes in gorgeous kitchens.  I can always find new ideas when I'm browsing through Pinterest.

Other Blogs: I love reading what is own other blogger's brains to inspire my own blog posts.  It helps that I have some pretty awesome blog friends that always have great posts to read!

Pen and Paper: I'm a doodler and I write down everything...literally.  So sometimes all it takes is a brainstorming sessions with a pen and some paper to get my creative juices flowing.

Coffee Shops: I love to head to the nearest coffee shop for a change of scenery if we are in a place that Chris feels like it is safe for me to wander around by myself, which sadly isn't the case more times than not.  Have I mentioned that Minor League teams seem to be in super sketchy towns?

So, my question to you is, where to you find inspiration when your surroundings are less than inspiring?

  1. finding inspiration when you are spending day in and day out as a baseball park can get pretty blah. You are doing an amazing job and love coming to your blog each day to see how he is doing.

    1. Thank you so much Jessa! I'd have to agree, the baseball park is not the most inspiring place!
