God's Dreams

We've heard it a million times...God has a plan for your life.  And He absolutely, undoubtedly does.  But the other day on just another one of my many drives home from an away baseball series a Casting Crown's song called "Dream For You" came on.  It was one of those moments where God grabbed my heart and gave me so much joy.

God doesn't just have a plan for your life, but he has DREAMS for your life.

Maybe it's just me, but the thought of such a huge, all-knowing God dreaming for my little, short life brings me such joy.

I started asking myself why the though of God having dreams for my life sounds so much better than God having a plan for my life.

I think it comes down to the fact that dreams are so much more personal than a plan.  In my head, a plan is like a schedule.  It is more like a check list of things that need to happen or get accomplished, then it is over.  Dream on the other hand, are so much bigger than a plan or schedule.  Dreams aren't something you can just check off a list.  Dreams are things that need to be worked toward and enjoyed. Dreams are something you come up with after years and years of thinking, not something you just came up with to get to an end point.

This is why I love that God has dreams for each of our lives.  Dreams that are so much bigger and better than we could ever imagine.  Dreams that are for such a bigger and better purpose than we could imagine.

There is a reason God doesn't let us see the purpose or the end results of these dreams at the beginning. He wants us to rely on Him and seek Him for the next steps.

I pray that we can let go of our plans and let God dream for us.  I can only imagine the unbelievable that He could accomplish through us.

  1. I love where you said "There is a reason God doesn't let us see the purpose or the end results of these dreams at the beginning. He wants us to rely on Him and seek Him for the next steps. " That is so true! Thank you so much for the encouragement. It was much needed on this Wednesday morning. Thankful for you, sweet friend! :)

  2. So much truth. We aren't allowed to see the end for a reason and it's always worth it in the end.

  3. I needed this today. I struggle a lot with wanting to see the big picture and trying to figure out why I'm doing what I'm doing or too anxious to find out what's next. I have to remind myself to surrender to His will and trust in the process. Thanks for sharing!!

  5. This really resonated with me! I'd never thought about God having a DREAM for my life. We've all heard that God has a PLAN for us, but I think the big difference is that God gives us the opportunity to make our own plans, but if we make our plans by seeking Him then we can experience some of His dreams for us!
I discovered your blog recently and have enjoyed reading it. First time commenter =)
