Iced Coffee

So recently, I have gotten on an Iced Coffee kick.  After looking at our budget and expenses from last month, the almost daily Starbucks runs had to go.  I know there are ways to cold brew coffee at home, but I haven't tackled that yet.  It is on my list of things to learn.  For now, I have a new solution thanks to Trader Joe's.

I found Trader Joe's Cold Brew Coffee Concentrate.  It is $7.99 for a 32 ounce bottle, BUT that 32 ounces makes 96 ounces of Iced Coffee.  Since this is a coffee concentrate, the bottle recommends mixing one part coffee concentrate to two parts water or milk.  My perfect mix is one part coffee concentrate, one part water, and one part milk.  If I need a sweet tooth fix, I add a little honey or chocolate syrup...oh my yum!

So I went ahead and did the math to make it easy for y'all! A Tall (12 oz) Starbuck's Iced Coffee is $1.95 plus tax.  An 12 oz Iced Coffee made at home with Trader Joe's Cold Brew only uses 4 oz of the coffee concentrate.  So that means is is only $0.99 which is almost a dollars worth of savings.  That dollar might not seem like a ton, but when I'm making almost daily Starbuck's runs that dollar adds up.  So in a month, making iced coffee at home can save me around $20-$30!

So head to your nearest Trader Joe's and grab some Cold Brew Coffee Concentrate.  And sorry to all my Mississippi friends.  I've already looked and our nearest Trader Joe's is in Nashville... Looks like I'll be stocking up on these bottles before we head home, but the good news is they last for a full year when they are unopened!
