A Letter of Thanks

Dear Minor League Baseball Host Families,

In our second season of Minor League Baseball we got to experience host families for the first time.  I'm not going to lie, the idea of moving into a complete stranger's home was scary.  There were so many scenarios going through my head about the idea of host families.

Then, we moved in with a family that I now know will be a part of our lives forever.  They are not our "host family" anymore, but they are now a part of our family.

Our host family opened their home with completely open arms.  They always made us feel loved and welcomed.  They seriously went above and beyond anything I could have ever imagined.

Our host family made this Southern girl feel at home in California, which I thought was impossible.  They made it not feel like I was over 2,000 miles from home.

Our host family was our biggest support this season.  They stood in for our family that couldn't come to games.  They were seriously at almost every game.  They even drove six hours in one day to watch Chris pitch.  That is dedication.

So this is a letter of thanks to not only our amazing host family, but all the host families across Minor League Baseball that open their homes to players, wives, and families.  That selflessly support players in a journey that not many people understand.  Host families that make people who are so far from home feel at home.  Thank you.

From a wife that was a little skeptical about the whole host family situation, I am hugely in favor of host families after living with our family.  I honestly wish more teams offered host families.

Thank you for making us feel a part of your family.  Thank you for making our time in California more amazing than we could have imagined.  Thank you for your unbelievable generosity.  We will seriously never be able to repay you, but I sure am glad God put you in our lives.

We love y'all!
